Unhappy Cat is acting strange?

I have a 4 year old, over weight cat that has been urinating in the bathroom on the floor and in the bathtube. I scrubbed her litter box and that didnt work. We just put the family dog to sleep a few week ago. Although they did not get along and rarely interacted, could this be the cause of her behavior? Thanks!

The first thing you need to do is take her to the vet. She could have a bladder infection,(quite common) which will cause cats to avoid the litterbox.

If she is extremely overweight, you also need to ask the vet how to get the pounds off.
