The elderberries have ripened
The best shrubs in the world for attracting cedar waxwings. My husband counted 15 of them at the berries the other day. We've had grossbeaks at them too. Even the young robins that aren't so good at getting insects love them.

Ah-ha! That's who's eating hazel's elderberries!
I've been seeing waxwings and grosbeaks in our bushes, but I thought they were going after the dogwood berries. I'll have to watch more closely tomorrow to see who's eating what! That's a great pic, by the way!
