I spent yesterday evening taking porcupine quills out of my dog's mouth. I thought I had them all, but today I've noticed one more. It doesn't seem to be causing the dog any problems, but where it is located, I can't seem to get at it. Will it hurt the dog to leave it? Is there any way of calming the dog down enough (including over the counter medications) that I can get her to hold her mouth open so that I can get the final quill?
