Oy, I've had quite an encounter with the teffies yesterday when I was doing my best to brush him.

Hugggable he is, and loves nothing more than to be hugged. Really, I don't have to worry about socializing him - he'll leave a yummy treat for a hug, even from strangers.

He is smilling

. Actually that is one of the specific "looks" of the breed. Kees are nicknamed "the smiling Dutchman" due to this specific facial feature.

Here he is exercising the teefies (pic #1) and sleeping a very "troubled"

sleep (pic #2). Yep, he'd sleeping belly-up.

Oh, and...no smuggling allowed

He'll be about 40-45 lbs and 16-17 inches high. Oh, and about the flufiness - this is nothing

Did you see both his parents? Since both of mine have the same breeder as the dam of your little fellow, there is a big difference in the size of mine and this breed can go between 40 and 70lbs. Baxter is 67 lbs and a lot taller and bigger boned than Bentley. Bentley however is 44 lbs. Our first dog was also on the larger side of the breed at 70lbs and overstandard in height as well.

Great choice in the name Leo by the way, it suits him perfectly

Is his coat hard to brush? I've never seen a Keesh in person, but from the pictures it looks like my old dog's fur. Never really tangled (hurray!) but could attract burrs from a mile away

Their coat is remarkably easy to care for. You're right about the burrs. They don't do so well going through rose beds either. Had to rescue Baxter from the centre rosebed last night.

They have a tendancy to get matts with the long fur behind their ears and the long fur on the back of their front legs.

I've only meet the dam - the sire does not live with the breeder and it's a bit difficult to judge his size from the pictures. Eh, even if Leo grows a bit heavier and taller than the standard, we'll keep him anyway

I don't think that his current growth rate is relevant, but he did grow up a lot in the week+ he's been with us.

The very first brushing tentative didn't go too well but I guess I'm "stubborn-er" than he is. He got a thorough clean-up over the weekend and now I do brush him a bit every day, to get him used with the process - so far so good.
We have not encountered burrs yet - I'm keeping him mostly on our lawn, but let me assure you that he is a dried grass and leafs magnet

This may sound silly, but I keep my dog brush in the drawer of my night table. Then at bed time (yes, my dogs sleep on my bed - ceasar would not be happy with me!) a run a few strokes over them with the brush.
They're so tired, they could care less what I'm doing (a good time for teeth brushing too!

) and it's kind of a soothing routine before we go to bed.

You should be proud. He is adorable.

Maybe you'll be lucky and he'll be a typical kees that doesn't like getting his feet wet or getting dirty. I've had 3 dogs like that. Then came Bentley who loves getting wet and dirty.

No such luck...

I'm not sure about getting his feet wet - he didn't have the opportunity yet - but getting dirty he loves! Today he has discovered the joys of digging in the dirt...

We have a huge maple on our front yard and he likes to go and sniff around and play with the dried leafs... and today he started digging by the tree trunk then sat down on the wet soil. ...And it wasn't even that hot outside yet for him to need to cool down.
