Puppy cone head
Question: What is the knobby part on top of some dogs' heads?
Sheeba has one. Been looking it up online and people keep calling it "smart knot" or "knowledge knot." Is this just a puppy thing or does it smooth out as it grows? I found this pic on the net just as a reference. Same dog as an adult, no more knobby cone head.

hmmm... I have no idea if this is right, but someone once told me that was where the jaw muscle attached and if it is pronounced that means the dog has strong jaws.

Ceara, are you talking about the bony protuberance at the back of the skull? Do a search on occipital bone and see if that's what you think it is...
Our dogs all have fairly pronounced occipital protuberances. That and the 'stop'--the section right between the eyes-- are favorite kissy spots around here. There's nothing quite as heartwarming as wrapping your lips around a good occipital and giving it all the kissies it deserves!

I believe as well that it is the occipital bone. We have one as well....that part of the skull where the neck joins in the back.
