Puppy training help

Hi I found this site a few weeks ago about puppy training, can't remember it and was wondering if anyone could show me any excellent sites for help.

anyone with knowledge of excellent sites, I do have knowledge in puppy training but it never hurts to get more tricks and things that maybe we never think of doing.

budboybudboy77, I don't think anyone here is being neglectful of you and I know I have seen your posts in other threads, so perhaps the members have already touched on this subject with you in another thread and that would be the reason they aren't repeating themselves again here.
If that is not the case I would advise you to join a class in your area, or talk with people at the off leash parks and get their opinion of a good training school in your home town.

yes but sometimes there are problems we can't solve.. It is better to have more than one point of view on this subject.. more information in your pocket is better don't you think??

I agree with you .. but if we work together and put all the articles and all the stuff on this, would it not be better to just have everything on one site ?

there is alot of information here on this site, and very knowldagable people here, but sometimes it is good to see other sites and see what others have to say and how they deal with it..

it is like doing research you take out as many books as you can get to get the "full" information you need then you pick and chose what you want out of it..

I agree .. but the way I see it is .. if we can make one book .. then .. why not make it as one book

we arte going in circles here... we all like different things.. if you or other people can get help on one site go for it.. I like more than one resouce to go with..

Remember, though, that Wikipedia is user-written, so you have to be careful of information you get there, just as you have to be careful of any source (including pets.ca)

And as to a one-stop shop for puppy training--do you have any idea how big that monster would be! There's lots of stuff out there on how to train pups, some of it good, some of it bad... Then there's the sticky issue of who gets to decide what's good, what's bad...

Was there anything specific you wanted to know about training?

I got a book that seems really good but haven't read it all yet.

"Before and After Getting Your Puppy" by Dr. Ian Dunbar

and "Canine Good Citizen" by Jack and Wendy Volhard

Got an Amazon gift certificate for xmas. Sure came in handy to get those puppy books.

What worked for my dog isn't necessarily going to be the solution for your dog. But that said, Lukka responded very favorably to clicker training. You can google search all the training tips for that. I took her on a wooded path with few distractions for the first couple of months and practiced her leash walking. She is a beautiful leash walker and has been since about 5 months. She will walk within a foot or two of me and it's very rare I ever give a leash correction. Whatever method you choose just stay with it and be consistent, you will get to where you want to be with her in no time

Oh I think you can start leash training now. I'm doing that with Sheeba now and she only just passed the 2 month mark.

I attach a very light leash inside the house and let her experience having it on. Then outside I get her to follow me while she's wearing the leash but I don't hold the other end yet. She's extremely eager to just follow anyway and stay close.

I'll look into the clicker thing, don't really know right now how that works.
