Glaucoma?

a few days ago we took our 3 yr old pit lab mix to the vet for a bloodshot and oozing eye. the vet suggested it could be glaucoma and prescribed us with drops given QID and the pills to be given TID. yesterday was the first full day of meds. this morning we woke up and his eye was perfectly fine. we gave hiim his first dose of pills and drops. after the drops his third eyelid started to swell again and was red. is there a posibility that its not glaucoma? or is this just an effect of the drops? his IOP readings were anywhere from 30-60 in his right eye. is there anything else that can cause a high pressure reading besides glaucoma?

As glaucoma is defined as increased pressure in the eye. So while we think of glaucoma as a disease by itself, it is also the condition of increased pressure in the eye.

Any pressure changes in the eye are a BIG deal. I would recommend that the case be managed by a veterinary ophthalmologist specialist. It does not take much to have the problem go to the point of losing vision permanently.

Also with many glaucoma cases, if it occurs in one eye, the other side can be affected down the road. This is another reason to have a specialist manage this.

I hope this helps.
