Puppy has had Hook Worm for 3 months ??

My female chocolaate lab has had hook worm for the last 3 months, we have been giving her medication as prescribed by the vet. As of last night she still has it. Also in the last week we have noticed the dog getting fat!! Just seems like it happened overnight. She is always hungry and she is only getting what we give her but she has on many occasion stole food from the cupboard, bread basket etc. Should I seek a second opinion from another vet? Is her sudden bloating a concern?
