Any Info On Boston Terriers
I have recently found a breeder for Boston Terriers, I will hopefully be bringing home our new addition in January. I have read a lot about the breed, but thought I'd ask if anyone has anything to add from personal experiences with the breed. Any advice is appreciated. Thank-you

Hi there, my sister has a Boston Terrier. He is very very very hyper. He gets really excited over anything which is really cute. He needs a lot of exercise to tire him out. He loves to chew to lots of chew toys are a important. He recently had surgery on his leg as floating knee caps are common in the breed and it needs to be fixed so it doesn't get really bad. He bounced back from the surgery fine though. He is very strong jawed and can get a good grip on things, if you are playing tug with him he can almost pull you around the floor. He gets along really well with other dogs and plays with my Shih tzu all the time. Overall he is a sweetheart. Good luck with your new puppy.

A new Boston pup - how exciting!
When do you get your little bundle of joy?
I am a proud owner (or am proudly owned) of/by a Boston Terrier. He is the best dog I have ever had. The breed is super smart (does really well with training, is motivated by treats, although I've heard that clicker training works well with Bostons as well) They are attentive and sensitive dogs. Most Boston owners will agree that the breed needs a lot of attention. They are definately people dogs and want to be with their owners as much as possible. If you work long hours be sure to have a dog walker or take your pup to doggie daycare. They do have tonnes of energy (my pup does the BT 500 around my living room several times a day) but they also looove their sleep (as long as it is under the covers with their owners!!) There is a great magazine that you can by from PetSmart called "Boston Terriers" from the Popular Dog Series. This mag has a lot of useful information about the breed (everything from health to training) There are also some great message boards out there (i.e. bostonterrier.org) where owners exchange information about their dogs. Good luch & enjoy your new pup. |
