Meat in freezer question...
A friend of mine gave me a side of beef that she had in our freezer. It was rock hard frozen and wrapped in butcher paper. My intention was to feed it to our dogs.
I have been off the RAW diet for a couple of weeks because I went away and put them in the kennel and want to get back on. Question is... My husband said the power went off to our freezer and that the meat warmed up. He said it did not thaw, but that it was no longer knock through cement solid. And the meat prior to the accident, could have been used to break a skull. Do you think it is still safe to feed to the dogs? Or should I throw it all out?

I don't know if it is ok to feed the dogs or not....although they do seem to try and get their teeth in any old rotting carcass they find ...If you decide against it, I know some wildlife rescues would probably be more than willing to take it from you rather than throw it away.

I'd feed it to the dogs too. They don't have the same issues with bacteria that humans do.

I'd feed it to our dog too, but then I'd make sure that there's no kibble or milk bones or whatever else for the next 4 or 5 hours at least. Just to make sure that the dog's tummy maintains bacteria-killing integrity.

I think it should be fine to feed to your babies. It didn't thaw, and like Marcha and L4H mentioned, dogs digestive tracts can handle bacteria on meat that we humans can't. I give it the go ahead!

but you knowwww, if you STILL happened to be squeamish about it, I can think of someone who would take it off your hands

I have to agree with all the above. You could always follow up the feedings with a probiotic like plain yogurt?

You could always just feed them a little bit at first and see how they handle it.
