Dano, the banned "pit bull" from Ontario, was returned safe and sound to the St. John Animal Rescue League yesterday. A couple noticed him wandering the streets on Thursday. So they stopped, opened their car door, and he jumped in. Kim Daye, an animal control officer with the shelter, told the Telegraph-Journal that Dano was clean, dry, happy, and unharmed. With all the media attention he's received, Dano is bound to find a loving home very soon. A police officer investigating the case offered to adopt him, pending his wife's approval. And the couple currently fostering Livingston, the other "pitty" rescued from Ontario, are thinking of taking Dano in, despite having four other dogs. Several rescue organizations, such as Bullies in Need (BIN), a non-profit dog rescue in Ottawa, Ontario, are doing their best to find homes for dogs before they are euthanized because of Ontario's "pit bull" ban. Of course, many of the dogs on death row are not "pit bulls" at all, but rather dogs who've been seized by uneducated animal control officers who have the power to label any dog a banned dog, regardless of its actual breed—like the seven puppies slated to be euthanized that were actually Hound-Whippet mixes. Or Brampton's Rambo and Brittany, Boxer mixes who were seized without warrants and whose fate will be determined by the courts. BIN rescues dogs from death row and places them in foster homes until forever homes can be found. If you are unable to adopt a dog, but would still like to help, consider sponsoring one instead. For a monthly donation of $25 for one dog or $45 for two, you will help pay for shots, spaying or neutering, food, bones, vet care, soap, crates, and obedience training. |

So happy. And delighted to hear the person who spotted Dano was good enough to open the car door.

It would only be worse if there was a child in the car too . How would the child have a chance of surviving, they would probably have to do DNA testing to ID him after the pitbull got through with him/her

They couldn't do that until they cleared all the kissy goobers off the kid first. I'm so glad Dano is safe.
