There's no Yorkie rescue , but there is "Tiny paws rescue" in Ontario. You can also look at petfinder.com.

The golden has a very white face ... and he's only 10? Is the facial whitening an indication of age at all (roughly at least)? Thinking of Sheba of course. She's taken a "coup de vieux" this winter, doesn't like to go up the stairs in the dark anymore, has a really hard time gettin up on the couch, but still eats like a horse and has no health problems at all and spring should losen up her stiffening joints (as in frozen!)

Oh Frenchy, looking at those two faces just make me cry,cry for the injustice of it all,I wonder how some people sleep at night
How could they?? We can only hope some good soul will see the need and love in these poor pups and take them home Where are they now??

Please read....
People think nothing of dumping their dogs at the SPCA. You know "out of sight, out of mind".
Don't you know that the SPCA finds farms for all the dogs to live on? Yup, I have heard that a million times.

Like people , some get white hair faster you can never tell their age just by that.
They're in a shelter. The adoption people contact me for goldens or any older dogs , you know , the ones that needs more help  Specially the older ones  why now ? why don't they have time for them NOW ? |

My daughter until recently worked in the adoption centre at the shelter, they also did the intakes, she could not handle the pathetic excuses people gave when they came in to surrender their pets, it's good that she doesn't work in that area of the shelter anymore. I'm sure one day we would have had to go and post bail for her. She is not the most patient little person on this earth.
She is petite, like you Frenchy. |

I know what your daughter feels Chris, why don't they just say exactly what is on their minds, that way they can be viewed as the weak person they are, the two pups I know that were dumped at the shelter, I know the people that dropped them off there and it wasn't because they didn't have time for them!
It is sad that people have to come up with lame excuses, when we as animal see right through them. I hope those people out there that drop off their animals have what is coming to them!!!! I'm sorry had to rant As for the people that have real reasons i.e. death or family problems, then I sort of see the problem there. Deb |

Almost everyday she would come home, the conversation would go:
Me: how was your day? Her: don't f***ing ask, I f***ing hate f***ing people. Me: don't swear so much, it's not nice coming from a young girl. Her: I don't f***ing care, I f***ing hate, etc, etc. Man, she would just be on fire some days, I'm glad she doesn't work in the area anymore, even though she was doing a lot of good, it just burned her up inside. Now she comes home, I ask and she says not too bad and mostly on a positive note. |

Here is a question that would be food for thought.....
What is it that makes some people think that an animal is disposable? Why is it that some people think the rescues know how to deal with it? Why do some people think that rescues are there just to rehome? Do these people think??????? You know what they say a cold wet nose, warm heart......... Like my new say??? Deb |

Please read
There are some genuine excuses for giving up an animal but the majority that I hear are just baloney. I don't even care anymore to hear the excuse why they are giving up their dog. What I do care about is getting that poor animal away from a home where he is obviously not wanted and into a home where he will be cherished.
Last week we got a dog from the sister of a lady who had died suddenly. The sister was devastated and dealing with the death and could not handle the dog. Tonight I spoke to someone who bought a puppy from an online web site. The puppy is 3 months old. The so called breeder delivered two puppies to this family and gave them a choice of pups. The chose one and now a month later their landlord won't let them keep the puppy. Oh ya, and her son is allergic, she thinks. The son wanted a golden puppy for two years. They have friends who have two goldens and he was fine with them but is allergic to a pup. This lady has just taught her son a very valuable lesson.

You girls/guys who deal with this on a regular basis have my total admiration and you are right,it's not the ignorant heartless people that matter,it's giving these betrayed, dumped animals a chance at a better life.
I suppose they can all be thankful they were not just dumped on the side of the road, instead of a shelter

About 10 days ago at the shelter, a fella surrendered an purebred Dobie 2 months old, he had bought it for his girlfriend for Valentines, she didn't want it and the STORE would not take it back.
Our four rescues: Cocoa was seven months when we got her, excuse, too hyper, duh she was a pup. Rebel - pees everywhere, duh he's a Bassett, hard to housetrain. Skippy - no time-four kids involved in everything, I guess they didn't have time. Iggy - came to us as a 3 week old foster - from a seizue. Why people don't think of the long term commitment is beyond me. I wish that my guys would never have to go. I so hope Sydney and Symba find a loving home soon, they look like they have so much to give. |

Man he didn't think to ask his girlfriend, the scary thing is it didn't seem to make him think, it is like saying.....
Hey honey, I went out and got pregnant, we're going to be parents.... Without thinking of your situation or the others feelings, including the animal that can not speak for it's self.... Brainless bum hole he is...

For these two!!! Makes me very angry to see this and sad. At that age, wouldn't you need less time devoted to them? Wouldn't they just be great couch companions?
At the HS here, if you ask to volunteer in admission, they ask you several questions and run you thru some of the reasons for surrender...just to be sure you will be able to cope...and not scare off the people...cuz the shelter is better then some options...

After working for 5 years at the shelter, my daughter has heard just about every excuse/reason in the book, she has genuinely felt for some people when the reason is authentic and they have tried different avenues to rehome their pets. Overall, people just give lame excuses and she would like to rip them apart. I know for sure in the case of Symba and Sydney, it would be the rip em apart scenario.
Sticker on her bumper reads "Who told you I was a F***ing people person". |

Sydney and Symba are now up on our website as a courtesy listing. I will ask other rescues if they want to help too.
