Stolen Dane - Sadie's been found!!

I know we have a few members from the US on here so I thought I would post this here as well.

This is a post from another Great Dane forum I belong to. Permission to crosspost.

A friend is desperately looking for her senior dane, Sadie. Sadie and a black lab were stolen from a fenced and locked yard this weekend in Missouri.

Sadie is microchipped, spayed and a total love bug. A reward IS being offered.

ANYONE who searches Craigslist and other pet classifieds, please contact me if a fawn female dane is posted. Sadie is a light fawn dane with no mask and natural ears.

Sadie is a well loved senior gal with a set of twins that are desperately awaiting her safe return. Her owner is a mess, obviously and is doing everything possible to find her and bring her home.

PLEASE PLEASE email me if you think you know ANYTHING about Sadie's whereabouts. Also, please spread this information far and wide, rescue groups, shelters, websites, etc etc. My email addy is danegrrrl at hotmail.com if anyone finds anything...

First just let me start by saying that I hope you find her, safe and sound.

I am curious though, how do you know that she was stolen? This is a huge accousation.

The lady that owns the dane was over at friends I believe Wed. night. Her dane, Sadie was playing with the friends 2 dogs, the black lab and a sheltie. After supper they decided that they wanted some ice cream so they left the dogs to play in the backyard. They were gone 15 min. When they returned only the sheltie was left in the yard. The home owners have an 8 ft. privacy fence and the back gated was closed and locked. Upon returning they found the back latch was busted open.

The lab is still missing along with Sadie. Neighbours were questioned but unfortunately noone saw anything.

I supposed someone could have just busted the gate open and let them go but the owners of both dogs feel they were stolen. I can't really offer an opinion either way as I wasn't there.

My only hope is that both dogs are found safe.

As said before in another thread on the same subject. "Two dogs reunited with owner in New York". We are living in such times that people would do just about anything for a buck. Please keep your gates locked and chained and protect yourself from becoming a victim ever again!

Sadie has been found. On a farm about an hour out of the city. Her paw is almost all torn off requiring stitches and 2 nails are tore out. She's a nervous wreck and in need of a bath but the vet is sure she will be ok. Whoever had her or took her put a shock collar on.

So glad she's found her way back to her family. Still no update on the missing lab though.

This makes me want to cry...

My folks had one of their Saint Bernards stolen from their yard also, very traumatic for them and the dog. Thankfully in this case he was returned, but not until after a police search and arrests... people with nothing more productive to do... This was in the late 70s- apparently not a new phenomenon but I'm sure more common today (?)
