Help.. UPDATE BARLEY FOUND & CAUGHT YAYYYY Basset lost ..New York

BARLEY SAFE & SOUND!!!!

Hi,

Today a neighbor about 1+ miles away called the dog catcher to say a dog was in her backyard. Dog catcher called me. I was on the way to store but turned around and called Mary who was still out looking. In fact, I picked her up from a ditch. We drove there and she went to the backyard and saw him. He started to turn away. She went face down to the ground and kept only a slight gaze out as she held out a Slim Jim treat that she knows he loves. He crept over & nibbled the Slim Jim and soon hew was in Mary's arms. Joyous Moment!! She brought him back to the car wrapped in her coat, crying her eyes out. Barley is down sleeping on the couch with his good friend Bailey. Now Elise getting AAA to pull Mary's car out of the mud on the logging trail where it got stuck this morning. High drama, Happy ending.

Margaret

MISSING IN THE COLDEN/BOSTON, NY AREA:

Barley was on a transport from KY to Canada today and was at his overnight’s house and unfortunately, slipped out of his harness. He took off into the darkness. Margaret has called her neighbors, the state police as well as animal control. The area she is in is not well lit, but she is going with flashlights to see if she can spot him. If anyone is in the area of Boston/Colden, NY and can help go look for Barley, PLEASE DO! Please let’s help find this baby. It is VERY cold and is snowing. He might very well know his name, but might be too frightened to come when called.

AREA LAST SEEN:

. “It looked like he was going into the horse pasture across the street but I think I caught a glimpse of him running down (south-east) on Lower East Hill Rd (town of Boston, NY). The bottom of the hill is 1 -1 1/2 miles down and it ends at State Road, Route 240. in Colden NY.”

BARLEY’S INFORMATION:

Approx 9 mo old basset hound mix. He is brown with white on his chest. Approximately 35 pounds . Does not have a collar on. He is microchipped and neutered.

I just got back from the transport where I picked up Sally the other mill basset .. on my return I received this news..

* Barley.jpgBarley.jpg
* Barley2.jpgBarley2.jpg

Hi to all of you rooting for Barley,

Thank you for all of the calls and emails. Your advice is invaluable. We have put fliers in mailboxes on our portion of Lower East Hill, called many people beyond where they would be good lookouts if he wanders further out, and we have put fliers in all the mailboxes on Wohlheuter Rd. We have a live trap with coldcuts and fried chicken awaiting. We are about to move it to a place Barley's foster Mom thinks might be better to attract him.

We have received a message from an animal communicator indicating he is sitting on the back porch of a brown house where Barley thinks no one is home. I checked out as many qualifying houses as I could without climbing people's fences but I have left notes and called him in the cheerful friendly tone I was told to use. We have better fliers to put up to replace the crumby ones I did in the wee hours last night. I'll put them up next.

Best of all, Mary Bevens (Barley's foster Mom) and her friend are driving up from Ohio as we speak. She says that if he hears her voice, he will come to her. She will be here by 10:00 pm and will start right away. She is bringing some of Barley's dog friends who may help lure him out. We still feel he is in the area because of his late night visit last night and the news carrier seeing him at 7 am. I desperately need to get this place ready for guests. I never got a chance to clean up after my sweet overnighters yet. I don't even know if there were any momentos left for me. Ha.

Pete Swales was here to help provide help, which means a lot. He and Ed were invaluable in trapping Abby last Spring? in Canada. She had been on the loose for almost a week. It won't be 24 hours for Barley until 10 tonight.

Many people who have seen the signs have indicated they are looking out for Barley. I do have a good feeling that he will be found.

I hope all of you who have called and asked to be kept updated are getting this.

Many thanks

and for Barley's quick return!!!! How nice of his foster mom to drive up from Ohio--especially since the weather's been so bad out east!

On Christmas morning, I wish...

For every dog searching trash cans for breakfast, a full bowl with his name printed in bright letters.

For every dog who slept fitfully last night, chained in a frozen yard, a soft, warm bed with a person snoring gently nearby.

For every shelter dog, spending Christmas morning in a soiled run, a forever home, filled with sounds and smells of family.

For every "Christmas" puppy given today, a tolerant, caring owner who won't abandon you as you grow into a real dog.

For every ailing pet, enough money for your owner to pay the bills to make you well.

For every lost dog, a clear, safe road, and well marked path, to lead you home.

For every old and tired friend, a warm fire, and a soft bed, to ease your aches and pains.

and

For every Heart Dog at the Bridge, a moment when you know that you are remembered today, missed again, and loved forever.
