What breed do you think my dog is?

Hi all
This is our baby her name is Bindi. My fiance and I adopted her from a high kill shelter in west Virginia. She is two years old and about 75 pounds now. We wanted to know what breeds you thinks she may be made up of. We were told by the shelter that they think she is Border Collie and Great Pyrenees. We definitely agree with the border collie but i think she may have some Newfoundland in her. If anyone has any ideas please share.

Welcome to the forum!
Looks like some Black Lab in there to my eye.

Some of her genetic heritage may show through in behaviours and not appearance. Does she show an inclination to herd? Is she aloof and protective? She is very attractive.

Have you considered a DNA test? It might be fun to see what comes out but I know folks who have tested known purebred's with mile long pedigrees and had mixed breeds come out at high levels. So I caution it's not a proof of any kind but might be fun. Met a lady yesterday with a good sized dog most anyone would thing was part Siberian and part GSD but when tested came out with the highest % reported as Cocker spaniel.

We think she was abused by her previous owners because she is very timid and very afraid of new visitors to the house although she is getting better. She does not show any herding but she does show some crazy bursts of energy at times. For the most part though she is a lazy cuddly dog who loves to just lay around on the couch. We have thought about doing some genetic testing for fun just to see what it comes up with.

I definitely see the border collie influence, but I think either great pyr or newf would probably result in about the same look I see in your cutie, so I can't decide which. Definitely border collie with a big dash of something really cute!!
