no worries

We were told we could bring her home around the 24th. I'm hoping earlier than that. We've been tidying the house and yard, preparing for poochie. We're going shopping for the basics very soon. We're going to visit her at the shelter in about an hour! yay!!

I've taken several pics of Skye at the shelter...but I don't want to bore anyone, since they all kinda look similar. I'll snap some more tonight and probably post them tomorrow.

I love her coloration! And her fur looks luscious--I'd love to be able sink my fingers into it on a cold day.

Definitely post more pictures--we don't bore easily and we love pictures!

Oh there's that gorgeous girl again. I will never get tired of seeing her pics. Why do you have to wait until the 24th to get her?

My sister has the best camera ever made, and has tones of pics, she's an artist actually, I warned her that 2 pics won't be enough to satisfy everyone's need for pictures...

I can't wait for Dazy to meet her, hopefully she will help rehab her like she did with Voo Doo. Teach her how to play, and come when called, and of course all the bad stuff too...

You are all putting a huge smile on my face!

She's such a silly girl I did take more pics last night at the shelter..but I havent taken them off my camera yet.
They told us last night, that she's been bumped up to get spayed sooner. So that means we could have her this week or early next week. I have excited butterflies in my tummy.

Can't wait for those Golden/Huskey play pictures . Has Dazy been introduced yet or do you have to wait for Skye to move from the shelter?

They haven't met yet, we plan on giving it some time once they have her home. With Dazy it could go one of two ways...she could either take her under her wing like she did with Voo Doo and be her BFF halping her adjust to life with a human pack or she could bully her around from the very minute they meet. I think it's important that Skye feel part of her pack, before they meet, build her self confidence up just enough as to not appear weak when meeting Dazy. Dazy's cute, but not always nice.

What do you guys think, how should the first introduction work? My place, theirs, nutral ground, altho they can't be off leash on nutral groud, Dazy guards me, some dogs she's ok with, others she gets a hate on for, and there is no rhyme or reason for it. Dazy is also use to her autie Neen (skye's new mom) all to her self.

Any suggestions??

Neutral ground is always a safe bet

I'd start with a walk by -> walking Dazy & Skye separately a bit first (tired dogs are happy dogs ) then do a walk by across the street from each other - gauge Dazys' reaction if she sees Skye but don't make a fuss over her seeing Auntie ie don't say "lets go see Auntie".

Then walk together up the street, see how it goes - hopefully they will hit it off 1st thing & Skye can join the Dazy BFF Club (not the BARC )

Dazy will lose it when she sees her aunt, she cries and cries with a stuffie on her mouth of course when she sees her, she even cries when she hears her on the phone talking to me, and when I say..HI NEEN! She runs to the door and cries. I am thinking it's me thats the problem, she tends to guard me, I might stand back and not be part of the inital meet and greet?

I hope it goes well, I am thinking me and DH will go meet Skye while she is recooping from being spayed without Dazy, so she gets to know us and we can meet her without Dazy, then when its time to meet Dazy, I will let my DH and Nancy's DH hold the leashes, we can stand back so I don't prevoke jealousy and Nancy doesn't provoke a hyper reaction from Dazy. Females eh...so persnickity!

Does that sound good?

That sounds really good. Having you out of the meet and greet equation might help Dazy from getting possessive of you too. Once they've met on their neutral ground with neutral handlers maybe you can let them come to you so they can work things out between themselves without it looking like you favour one or the other (as it might if you come up and pet one or the other of them). Once you've all met they you can start to show your "place" in the pack ie. as Dazy's human

Sounds GREAT! I'm sure if you do it that way, all will be fine. Maybe you'll have to do a few of those scenarios before switching to Auntie holding the leash..but hey - there's no rush!
