Anyone have experience with collapsing trachea?

Our vet thinks our beagle may have a condition called collapsing trachea, and I was hoping someone might have some experience with it.

Our boy is 4, is not overweight, and we don't use a collar with him. He's always had the honking cough on occasion, but lately it has become much more frequent. It's happens when we play, when he runs at the park, and often he wakes up coughing.

We are going to do some tests to rule out other possible diagnosis, but our vet is leaning toward this as the cause of the coughing.

Any thoughts?
