Hibiscus

Always a sign of summer ending when the hibiscus start to bloom.

First 2 are water hibiscus in the pond. The rest are in the garden.

A few more plus a trumpet vine flower pic. The white in the previous post and the candy cane stripe and red are all dinner plate size flowers. They are just huge this year.

Egyptians drink a lot of hibiscus tea (we boil the dry petals and then add lotsa sugar), especially during ramadan which is coming up and I have never actually seen a hibiscus plant. I would have thought the flowers were darker and less fragile looking....we also add it to henna, along with tea and pomegranete to give the henna a darker red colour.

Pretty cool..nice pics!

I love hibiscus! I like trumpet vine too but won't plant it. I have read too many horror stories on line about what it can do.
Beautiful pics!
