Talking Jerseygirl that's cool you want to adopt! I did! I love my doggie!

I just adopted a 2 yr old male bichon frise. I too am sooo allergic to animals and lots of other things. But I'm not allergic to my dog. Bichons are thought to be hypoallergenic breeds. They are so sweet too and love people, kids, and other animals.

Someone suggested searching on petfinder.com.
I agree that's a great place to find a dog to adopt.

Hope you find a dog as sweet and lovable as mine.

He is doing great now and since the only reason I didn't have much money was because I bought a house and I work as an audiologist, but my house was expensive so I was broke for a little bit but I'm much better finacially now. Rocky likes to frolick in the backyard and doesn't bother with my cat at all. I live behind a bay and there are little steps leading to a small dock and I was afraid he'd jump in the water, but he doesn't jump in, he'll usually sit by it and look at it but won't go in. I'll put some pictures of him on here when I get some. I love Rocky!!
Ooops I didn't realize you already found one! That was quick. Awesome!! I'm glad he is a great dog!
Thanks for saving a life and adopting one!

And they always seem to time it just right... that second your attention is some where else BOOM they're into something they shouldn't be.

Oh, for sure, I knew he wasn't a puppy, but any dog in a new home will get in to trouble...puppy or not! Puppy proof = in your case -placing everything way up high!!

He's very handsome.

In my opinion - the bigger the dog, the longer they stay in puppyhood.

My family bred O.E.S.D. while I was growning up and I don't think any of them because "adults" until at least the age of 8 or 9.

Today I was walking Rocky and I saw a gang of neighborhood boys riding their bikes, these are not nice boys they've been caught drinking a few times and been busted a few times for selling drugs. I don't live in a bad neighborhood, its just they have neglectful parents and older brothers who get them the drugs and I've seen them riding their bikes sometimes on the freeway when I'm driving somewhere. Rocky is friendly but he barks when he wants to be petted like if he's outside and someone walks past he'll bark but if they come inside the fence he is friendly. So I'm walking with him today when he starts barking at the boys and those brats turn around and look afraid and start riding their bikes faster!

oh yeah lol Danes will do that that wahts so great about them They total suck ups, but if you dont know wth that damn big thing is yo gonna walk the other way
I had a friend who had one in the city wvwry one was either awestruck or disppearing .

The most incredible thing with danes is at a gallop how much groung they cover used to beat my lab and poodle by a mile lol as long as it was a straight line thier handling leaves something to be disired .

Guess what? New people moved in across the street and THEY also have a dane of their own that Rockys been playing with. Does harlequin mean they are black and white or does that mean they have floppy ears?

He is beautiful by the way giant breeds do not mature till they are 3 so he is still a puppy just a very big one. Make sure you are feeding him an adult food and the best you can afford trust me it saves on vet bills. These big kids are very expensive to vet

Jerseygirl, Rocky is beautiful. We just lost ours to cancer at the beginning of July. She was 9 years old. As for barking at people, her bark sounded alot worse than it was. There was a neighbor around the corner, drove an 18 wheeler for a living. My dad would walk Mikala and my shih tzu every morning and every afternoon past this man's house. Every time he would be waiting for my dad with treats for the 2 dogs. Everytime, Mikala would bark at him. He was determined to make with friends with her.

Mikala wasn't stupid. She knew if she kept the act up he would give her more and more treats. The whole walk there her tale was wagging and she was literally prancing to get there and don't even think of changing the route cause she would sit down and refuse to move if dad didn't take her in the direction of this man's house. I really think it was a game to the 2 of them as she was quite the talker and got loud the more you didn't respond to her (or respond with what she wanted to hear lol).

Broke my heart the day he came back from a run and dad had to go tell him what had happened.

Now we have taken to locking our doors again (after I don't know how many years), and the house just isn't the same without 150lbs of dog to trip over. Seeing Rocky makes me want to think about another one.
