Blood drops after pooing

My mother got kitten from shelter couple of weeks ago... She noticed that sometimes her kitten after pooing has couple of blood drops on the floor. What it can be?

It's not normal for a pet to bleed after pooping , it could have worms but you really need to bring it to the vet.

I agree with both Barkingdog and Marko in regards to possibly seeing the vet over the bleeding. There is a good possibility that the organization that adopted the cat to your mother could have already done the de-worming and some of the vaccinations.

So you should check the paperwork that came with the kitten and find out exactly what was done before your mother adopted the animal.

If the kitten has already had these treatments, there is the chance of some sort of re-action to them.

Poor quality cat food might also be an issue, if the kitten was taken away from its mother too early. It might not have acquired the total immunity it needed from its mother's milk before being put onto store bought food.

You would be wise to check in with the adoption agency to find out as much information on the kitten as possible, to take it with you to the vet, if and when you go.

Yes, we checked all papers from shelter.... they did de-worming twice as well as all other required shots...she's now about 4.5 months... First 2 weeks she was eating the same dry food like in shelter, than i did research and bought better dry food (as per website I found). Now, my mother is muxing old and new food together.... i was thinking if it can be from a new food?

If you kitten is still bleeding after pooping she really need to be taken to the vet. This is not a guessing game to be play with .

If your mother hasn't got a vet, I would suggest that she try to find one that specializes in cats and somebody that she feels comfortable with.

She could check with the pet food stores and friends for recommendations and work from there.

I have had problems with a couple of my cats from time to time with bloody stool and I was able to trace back to food.

But without a vet's diagnosis, it could become quite a guessing game as to what the problem is.

When your mother takes the cat into the vet, if she can get a fresh stool sample, the vet can check it for parasites and whatever else they would check it for.

Best of luck with this and hopefully kitty will feel better shortly.
