CNN News: Pit Bull Mauls 11 mos. old baby

If you go to CNN, there is a sad story about an 8 yr. old pb that just met the new baby and mauled it. PB had been staying with others prior to meeting the 11 mos. old child..wonder if they suspected the dog was not safe to be around a new baby and kept it away with good reason?? and for the safety of the child?

It's extremely sad for all involved. It's not a wonder the dog was upset though, displaced from her home for 11 months just to find a new baby took her place in the home. Then without even considering that the dog might get jealous they simply allow the dog to go up to the baby, no leash, no adult holding the dog???

That is very sad but are these people total idiots. Papillonmama you hit the nail on the head displace the dog then show him that he has been replaced and no proper introductions and no leash how stupid. Sorry but this was the parents fault and the dog paid the ultimate price and now the child will have to endure surgery to repair the damage. It is not about the breed of the dog it is about stupid people who own dogs.

Poor baby! That must be aweful.

You have to ask yourself why the dog was allowed access and where the adults where at the same time.

Gawd that is awful, the adults probably had no time to react. At least the people reporting this incident gave a rational explanation as to what took place and didnt' just blame the breed even though the breed was mentioned.
Ive read about this kind of thing and I think the problem is yes, jelousy, but also the dog not understanding that the baby is human. They dont know what it is, and how would they if they havent ever been socialized??? Still how awful for everyone involved.
