Unhappy 15 yrs – no longer wanted

Denny’s golden years don’t look so golden anymore. And he’s quickly running out of time.

We’re desperately looking for a family to take him in and who will love and care for him and accept him for who he is:

An affectionate little bichon/poodle mix, whose only fault is that he’s old and no longer wanted in his present home.

He’s still got a bounce in his step, eats well and is alert. He’s on Rimadyl for aches and pains and soft food because he doesn’t have all the teeth he used to have. But, hey, we’re all going to get there one day!

Gerdy’s Rescues will pay all necessary medical care for Denny. (photo taken two years ago)

Do you mean he was with the same family for 15 years and now they decided they don't want him...was there no bonding on their part?...was it that easy to give up a member of the family after 15 years....wow some people really surprise me. I hope you find someone to take him in. He looks so sweet.

He was originally given up at age 11 and has been in his current home for four years.

Under the "favourite quotes" thread,... I must be sure to add -" the more I see of people, the more I like animals"

What a sweetheart! I hope that a loving home for this adorable senior boy will be found soon.

Let me see what I can do when I arrive in Oshawa next week. I might know someone who would offer Denny a "retirement" home.
I believe you have my personal email address too.

How can people live with themselves, what ever happened to forever homes. I don't know how you could just get rid of a dog because of its age, I hope Tucker lives to be in his 20's and I'll always be there for him, till death do us part.

Boy oh boy sure lucky I dont have a big ranch or it would be full of sad cases like this one I'd love to save this poor pup but buddy would probably harm him just wanting to play with him.
I hope you find his retirement place soon good luck

Update:
We've had some positive responses for Denny and are cautiously optimistic that he will find his new 'retirement' home in the not too distant future.

Thank you everyone for your encouragement and concern. We really appreciate it.

I hope he finds a home really soon that is so unfair, a dog gives unconditional love and what does he/she get the boot in there golden years. I hope these peoples kids don't treat them like this when they get old or maybe they should....... Karma I am keeping my fingers crossed for a happy ending

That is such great news to hear, very encouraging this sounds!
Fingers crossed that a perfect match for Denny will be found soon.
This sweetheart would be a blessing to any home.

For those who dumped their devoted companion for the "crime" of growing old....- despicable, unconsionable, heartless.

I'm a firm believer in.." what goes around, comes around."
Just desserts..

Good news!

Denny went to his new home today.

His wonderfully compassionate new family has an 18 year-old Poodle, which makes Denny the youngster in the family! Thank you to everyone who made this possible.
