Question Probiotic paste for cats? (and a pic)

Wow, it's been a while since I've posted anything here! In any case, we have a 16-month old cat, Bella, and a 4-month old kitten, Maeby. We've had Maeby for almost 2 weeks, and her bowel movements have been soft but formed since we've had her. We figured it was probably just changing her food (off of Iams or whatever they gave her at the shelter to Solid Gold Katzenflocken and Wellness Kitten wet food), since the vet did a fecal float and it was all good, but it stayed soft and often got softer. I've been consulting with the vet almost daily, and took Maeby in today. I should add that she's been playing, eating like a little glutton, gaining weight, and she's not dehydrated... Anyway, the vet took a swab directly from the source and tested it as well as a sample I took in. Nothing wrong, except that apparently her levels of "good" bacteria were quite low. The vet prescribed a probiotic paste to raise the levels of good bacteria, told us to cut down on the wet food (although she only gets 1/2 a 3 oz can per day), and told us to stop feeding her Greenies treats since she's heard of the doggie Greenies giving dogs diarrhea. Anyway, long-winded way to ask -- has anyone given their pet probiotic paste before for this reason? Did it work?

Here's a picture of our Maeby:

I give my dogs probiotics regularily, and particularily if their digestive system gets out of whack. I would think though, that if cat is having soft stool that regularly, that further investigation into the cause might be worth it if the probiotics don't resolve the issue.

Perhaps you just haven't found the right food yet?
