Sorry about that, been so swamped with rescues that I forgot to come back and keep updating. Sam was finally getting his medicated bath today! The big goof gets more puppyish by the minute. He bows and wags when I arrive to take him out. He's a smart cookie though.... he's realized we aren't going anywhere fast until he sits like a gentleman for his leash to be hooked on. Then look out, he tries to blast out the kennel area of the vet's office... no one is sacred in his path. He no longer has any oozing skin whatsoever. He has been on anti fungal medication combined with Ivomec and anti inflammatory. Now that he has begun the healing process and the bacterial fungus is subsiding... we should start to see what the real issue is. Meaning that he no longer has a meriad of problems so the one real one should rear it's ugly head if we've not attacked it correctly. Keep your fingers crossed that he continues to go forward as it means we've got it licked so to speak. Hopefully, he will be coming home monday or tuesday. I'll try to get some more photos of him tomorrow as he looks brighter by the day. Thanks so much for asking about him.

Sorry everyone, was to have photos of Sam but the end of the week was a nightmare. We had to say goodbye to one of our adopters dogs, Heidi whom I was very fond of. Then my van broke down.

Now to top it all off, starting on Sunday Sam has started to slide backwards. He is losing clumps of hair and he is rather itchy to say the least. He still wanted to go out for a romp with me today, I borrowed a car to go see him but I am discouraged with the return of hair loss. I will be discussing Sam with our vet tomorrow as I just missed him today. We are hoping it will not be a huge slide backwards as he really can't take that again. Just keep him in your thoughts... I don't know how to say goodbye to another one so soon if that's what this all means.

I'm so sorry. I'm sure we're all crossing our fingers and knocking wood and praying and whatever else we think is helping. Poor guy. I'm so sorry you have to go through this so often.

Sam continues to slide backwards today. They have restarted him on some of the drugs they had removed to see if he will go upwards again. We will know on Thursday if it's working or not. Sam is not showing all the signs but it is possible he now has cushings or addison's. His liver and kidney function are good but the rest is not. Depending on how things go over the next 48 hours, a decision will have to be made in Sam's best interest. We cannot allow him to continue on the path he has returned to as eventually these drugs will be his demise. I will keep everyone posted and thank you for the thoughts and well wishes for Sam.

This is SO UNFAIR. Bless you for hanging in there with him, with love but also a clear eye, even though your heart must be breaking. Is there NOTHING that can break this cycle, experimental stuff, homeopathic remedies, scientology...anything?
