A walk on the prairie . . . .

Crusted blood, a nail ripped right out to the root and a limping Abby came out of nowhere in the last day . . . . it might have been on the adventure below or maybe it happened at home. She only started limping later in the evening. She's done that kind of thing before. Wish her a fast recovery!!

It might have happened on this adventure yesterday, a modest run (for Abby) across the prairie . . . here resting . . . . but mostly not hanging out with the likes of Keeper and me, forging her own path across the prairie and checking in occasionally.

Below, Keeper on our windy walk . . . the end of summer coming

. . . . but (below) still green enough. Winter or summer, this is probably their favourite place. No leashes, no limits and we watched the ranchers move the bulls out here on an earlier walk!! We're about halfway along from a sign on the highway that says "No services for 113 km (about 70 miles)." If you've travelled Longview to Lundbreck, you know where this is!!

The same place in winter, probably our favourite time to come here:

The human was in shorts and walking through fields thick with thistles and rose bushes . . . nicely carved up shins this morning.

Below, Keeper at sunset at her prairie home last night.

The human guy had to study all weekend so not many riveting adventures.

For amusement, sunrise over a barley field on the way to work . . . at about 60 mph through the side window.

Stunning photos - especially the last one, that sky!! Great captures. You should have the second last one framed. Love the dog and healing thoughts to him.

What a wonderful place to live!!

Poor Abbey, hope she her foot is feeling better

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your beautiful photos with us, Rick. I always enjoy looking at them and dreaming of the day I will get back to the mountains.

I discovered a mass on Keeper on the weekend.

She's had some cysts lately so we thought that was all it was but a vet examination has resulted in surgery for Keeper tomorrow, removal of the mass and then having it sent for results to the lab.

Give some good thoughts to Keeper too.

I hope Abby is feeling better today, and best of luck to Keeper on her surgery. I'll be sending some good thoughts her way for those test results to come back as nothing serious.
