Sleeping Whitecloud?
Came in this morning and thought I lost a whitecloud. He was just sitting at the top of the tank, just below the surface. Belly down. But wasnt moving at all. The last one that died i think was belly up and was missing most his tail fins, so i assumed the betta got him. This one has all its fins. Anyways I put my net in to take him out and poof, he started swiming! looked a bit dizzy at first, kinda leaning to one side. That lasted for a min or two, now he looks fine. Swiming with the other two.
Maybe the betta stunned him? i've never seen one just sleep before. Any ideas? |

Hi Scott,
generally, white clouds sleep at the top of tank, perfectly motionless, or moving only occassionaly. After lights on they take about 30 minutes to wake up fully. Other fish will sleep on the bottom, in caves, or on plants. |

Do whiteclouds have a spawning dance?

Yep they sure do!
Males will sometimes dance together in a whos better than who dance, fins up, shaking their bodies from side to side. Females and Males will also do this, but often get much closer together. Spawning occurs easily - feed on some kind of high quality food- shrimp, bloodworms, etc, do a water change with 2-3 degree cooler water in the evening/late afternoon, and then turn the lights on in the morning and bam they will spawn like clockwork. Mine spawn about once every 20-30 days. The eggs are super super tiny! |

ok..lol well mines arent doing that lol
Just wondering because that one that i thought had a problem. I noticed he was swiming in one area with his tail up, head down kinda like this / Hed swim around but would kinda stick to that area for a few minutes. wouldnt stay constantly like / but the other two where swiming elsewhere and all around. He just kinda stood out. |

well im not sure. This am he/she looked normal. About 10min ago it started doing the same as before. It does swim around but it keeps going to the same spot and goes head down tail up, and almost stays still. It does move its tail and fins to stay in the same spot, but it doesnt move around too much. Any ideas?

Probably just resting, or sitting like that so he can keep an eye on the bottom of the tank.
White clouds are very interesting fish. Sometimes mine will be perfectly still for hours, and then have a surge of energy and excitement and rush around at high speed or show off to each other. |
