kittys got spots

Recently i noticed that my cat has various dark brown spots all over his head. they weren't there before. is it possible for cats to develop freckles? he's 3 years old..domestic short hair cat.

I'd feel them quite a bit. See if they are raised or are just the skin pattern.
If they are raised have them checked out.

but to answer the original question....Yes cats can develop freckles.
