IAM'S testing facility?

I just gotback from the vets with Chico, just shots, nothing serious
She however would like to see the IAM's testing video we had here a while back.IAM's has been promoting their excellent testing methods to her and she is really interested in what we(not me)saw.
Anyone know where in the Forum it is?

Not sure where it is in the forum but here is the whole website that PETA has designed on this issue. The video and much more appears here:

Thank's girls! I actually spent a whole hour talking to the vet(her lunch-hour) after Chico was done.We discussed foods, vaccinations and flea-control.
She had just returned from a seminar on vaccinations and the need for it.
About antibodies etc...and how it differs from animal to animal.
Iams had a rep there and he was promoting their products and testing- facilities and I mentioned the Video shown here. She is very interested in seeing it,but has no intention of promoting or selling their foods, although Iams keeps trying.
She decided,Rabies-shots are needed only every 3 yrs,Feline Leukimia(SP?)also every 3 yrs, depending on the circumstances of the cat.But suggested occasional preventative blood-tests.
As for Flea-prevention,she considers Advantage to be the safest on the market,non-toxic,but did not recommend the 4 month injection, not sure what it was called, maybe "Contact".
Well,it was interesting talking to her,I got the feeling she was not pushing to make money, but had the cats well-fare in mind
She also had learned not to give all the vaccinations in one spot, mainly the loose skin on the neck,as it can cause problems tumors etc..
All vets probably have different opinions and a lot of the desicions rest with us,but I was very impressed with her today.

Mona,if yours is the same as Cmt489,there is no need for you to bother, but thank's anyway I will give her the site tomorrow, the only problem I have with it,that it is probably from the States,Iam's Canada might be doing it differently.

Doubtful. Besides, even if the food available in Canada is not tested and manufactured in the US (which it likely is), the US company is the parent company. These companies will not stop reprehensible conduct (said with the caveat that PETA actually launched this campaign so there may be another side to this story) until their sales suffer all over the world.

Yes,unfortunately we don't know much about what goes on,I am hoping that some companys are a little more humane.
My vet seems to be a great animal-rights-advocate,maybe if vets started something,Iam's and whoever else, would improve their methods..you never know ,but I am not betting on it
MBRA,I don't think many people here feed their animals Iam's,as you know it's no better than grocery-food stuff only a little more expensive.

Wow. Just read the linked website info. I knew that Iam's was in trouble for something, but wasn't really sure what. Yow, that's brutal. There must be some regulatory body that could sanction them in some manner isn't there? I guess not, if it hasn't happened already. Well, I haven't bought any Iam's products so far, and after reading that I'm tempted to get Bob to pee on the Iam's food bags next time we go to the pet store. A little corporate vigilantiism.

See this is one of the reasons I love this forum. Before Abbey we used to feed Iams and Purina Pro Plan mixed. But now thankfully with this forum that crap would never cross my mind again and I tell people how crappy it is and also about their horrible testing.
Posts like these are excellent!!

Thank's Mona!! I actually have not seen it and have no intention of doing so,I just don't handle that sort of thing well.I had nightmares about Kensington the cat for a long time and I only read about him.
I trust your opinion on the Video and I am going to my vet this morning, she's only 5min away.

MBRA....That's why I put a bit of a warning.

Anita,I remember the other time I posted it some couldn't watch it.Which I understand. And even with the warning, our Miss Luba Booba watched it.

It just makes me sick that this is done for Dog Food.....And as I stated,Purina does the same.

Yes Mona,I was one of those people as was Lucky,I cannot deal with horror done to animals, knowing there is very little I can do to change things.I get this urge to help, but knowing I can't,raises my blood-pressure and makes me miserable,so I don't watch.
I am sure your babes were happy to see you

And I totaly understand Anita.

It just breaks your heart when there is nothing you can do to help them.

They sure did. They were leaching on to me.Heck I couldn't even go to the bathroom in piece.............LOL

And it is so sweet watching the closeness that my dad and Phoenix have.My dad has a shelf in the hallway. As soon as my dad heads out the door,Phoenix jumps on it and waits till he gets back in the house. She follows him everywhere....But I worry sometimes. She will get right in between his legs whe he is walking...I worry that he will trip and fall...
