Thumbs up Way to go 'Port Colborne, Ontario'!

A feral cat rescue group led by a Christie Mallinson-Vogel, I believe, put their case for a TNR program in Port Colborne (vs. the notably arcane and ineffective 'euthanasia solution'-HA-practised by most towns etc.) before town council recently, and received council support. Yay feral group , and good on Port Colborne, also .

(I think council gave the group a 5K grant or funding, but I'm a bit fuzzy on the details.)

I find the above development pretty inspiring; if a relatively small group of feral folk can accomplish THAT in a small town, it should give other not-so-forward-thinking places hope.

p.s. all the 'regulars' and Marko are my heroes too, goes without saying (I lost my password so often that Marko gave me one that I'll be able to remember even in a coma-with any luck, I won't be rendered comatose, but good to have a no-brainer p'wood anyway ):!!

That is great news, I think that a lot of towns could do the same thing and thereby in the long run not have to spend so much money on animal control.

Way to go Port Colbourne

What wonderful news! Even funding! How marvelous!

Thumbs up

...just thought I'd correct some minor spelling , and leave this group's eddress, in case anyone wants to check it out (bit of a chronological blog-nice to learn a bit more about the details). Their website is pc.feralcats@live.com ...Kristi Mallinson Vogel is the contact (didn't have her name quite right). Nice to see the above 'boosts' for PC and TNR; I mentioned the BB to Kristi, so hopefully she'll see what enlightened and sincere cat advocates et al. we are !

Good job to the rescue and to the town that is opened minded and compassionate enough to use this resource. Like said above, many towns/citys would just euth.

Red face

Well, I went to 'Port' and had a great chat with Kristi last week ...getting a bit more info for my cat over-pop. newspaper article in progress. (Incidentally, just found out today that the paper has literally 'downsized', and articles are now to be a max of about 400 words, as opposed to 800ish. Egad, that's just a long sentence, for someone like me! I am definitely going to have to try to find a pet magazine or newsletter who will run a decent sized story!)

Also, apparently my newspaper work has not entirely improved my 'accuracy'; I got Port Colborne Feral Cat's internet eddress wrong . OOPS. Here is the correct info: website-www.pcferalcats.org email-pcferalcats@live.com Kristi's blog-www.pcferalcats.blogspot.com ...I think that's it! Anywho, still an inspiration/role model for TNR and feral and homeless cat work !!
