It looks good except for the menhaden fish meal. Menhaden fish meal is preserved with ethoxyquin before it is sold to pet food companies unless the company has asked the supplier not to use it. Does it say anywhere on the bag that ethoxyquin has not been used?

nope i cant find anywhere it says that,so i take it that is a bad thing to have them eat daily???i looked at nutro and there ingredients dont look good.....

I would contact Solid Gold and ask them if their menhaden fish meal has been preserved with ethoxyquin before being supplied to them.

Our policy is to not use suppliers who use ethoxyquin, BHA or BHT to preserve the raw ingredients. The preservative we use is called Naturox and is the only such natural preservative approved by the Coast Guard. It is a blend of natural tocopherols and herbs. We test our food periodically to make sure that they are following the standards which we put forth for making the food and to ensure that there is no ethoxyquin in the food.

My bag only says All life stages and that's all they have in the store,I would think that too is considered holistic.

on petco.com the 7 lb bag says holistic and the bigger bag says adult...what does holistic mean??old??

It doesn't mean "old". I always thought it meant that they used human-grade food. They were very quick to reply to your last email. Maybe you could email them for clarification.

duh what an idea i will do that now.it shows when i click on features of the food it says special needs: holistic then the 15 pound bag has no special needs which i cannot afford bigger bag right now that is why i wanted to know if holistic is anything i need to worry about if i get it for her

Well, they only have one dry food for cats on their site, so I don't think you have to worry.

Holistic usually means more whole/natural ingredients (when referring to pet foods).
