Arrow Suggestions for change in puppy's food?

We are looking into changing our puppy's kibble, as he is very scrawney and impossible to put on any weight.

i used orijen on my older doberman with much success, but have since moved and it is impossible to find here in the country. we have since thn been on Evo red meat.

i *believe* the brands i can get here are Innova, Wellness, Solid Gold...i dont remember what other brands i have seen around here.

we would like to find something with a bit of grain, as we think that is his problem. we were looking into the wellness, but have read that some dogs have been getting the poops on that. we definatly have to avoid th runs, as my pup just had a little over 1 foot of intestine removed this weekend, and the poops are a definate no-no.

of course the vet that operated on him highly suggested his Iam Veterinary Recipe crap and his Hills special diet kibble...i tried to explain to him that i was not interested in feeding a *balanced corn diet*, but rather a healthy diet for active growing dogs. he looked at me funny when i tried to tell him they were on the Evo Red Meat.

any suggestions? thanks!

I am currently feeding my 10wk old Golden Retriever Pup Innova large breed puppy and adding canned meat (depends which kind...she seems to like Merrick the best, she isn't too fond of the Wellness puppy and I have a can of Canidae yet to try). She seems to be ok on it. She is a little itchy but we had a round of puppy impetigo a couple weeks back which is clearing up. I had read somewhere that someone's pup had the itchy's with Innova but her coat looks nice otherwise. She doesn't seem to want to gain much weight either although she is growing fast! There is always kibble in her dish left over and we are feeding her 3x per day with snacks. I sometimes add additional chicken or beef if I have it left over from dinner.

I stay away from Innova and here's why.

I feed "Honest Kitchen" and raw meat now, but before that I used to feed "Solid Gold Barking at the Moon" and the dogs did really well on it.
