Darn lump
I found a lump on Sunny my oldest greyhound, at first I thought was likely a bug bite but after a few days still there, so took him to the vet, they looked and figured it may be an insect bite as well so decided to try benedryl, incase it was swollen due to a mild reaction to an insect bite, a week later it has become more domed shaped and firmer so he went back for an aspiration, some fatty cells came out so possibly just a lipoma(fatty tumor) but could possibly contain mast cells as well, I should know either way by Tuesday. I am keeping my fingers are crossed

My best wishes to you and Sunny. Odds are it is nothing to be worried about but I'm sure you will worry just the same because that's what loving parents do.

Benign !!!!! It is a lipoma
And every penny was worth it Especially after learning so much more about mast cell tumors, they can easily look like lipomas or even like Histiocytomas which are both benign, the only way to tell the difference is to do a needle aspiration or biopsy, you can't diagnose a lipoma(fatty tumor) simply by looking and know it is not cancerous mast cell tumor instead. Dogs have a 35% greater chance of having skin cancer than humans The most common type of skin tumor is mast cell at 21.3% of total skin tumors, lipomas 8%, and histiocytomas are 2.5% http://www.vin.com/VINDBPub/SearchPB...00/PR00486.htm |
