Hey guys,

I've been off the forum for a while as I have absolutely no time to go check the posts. I am rescuing more dogs than ever in 13 years. But I am working at a temp job that allows me to go surfing, so I saw the post about Sassy.

I am more than willing to post her on my site if you want, and take applications. I agree that 24 hours is not a reasonable time to give a dog back, adjustment problems are to be expected. I have become very picky in my screening for potential families, as I myself have had dogs come back within 24 hours and I don't go for that. I am sorry, but any dog needs more of a chance than that. So if you want me to help screen good families, who will be willing to give her a real chance, contact me at my e-mail address sophie@rimasec.net. You can see my site, www.sophie.petfinder.com

Thanks. It's been a crazy year with so many dumpees. I cannot believe how much worst it is getting instead of better. We live in a very sad society... Here I lost my dog at the age of 19 and wished he could have made the world record (29!), yet people are giving up their dogs after a couple of years.

24 hours???

Hi everyone,

I cannot believe they only gave poor sassy 24 hours to adjust!!! Coda has been with us for 2 month, and he is still adjusting...who ever said that it would be easy, I just wish people would take the time to UNDERSTAND the situation. All this said...I'm pleased to tell you that Coda is doing great and is happy...Although, it is not always easy, we knew what we were getting in too, it is worth the time and patience...cause we love our pets..

Well Im Truly Sorry For The Way Things Turned Out For Sassy

Unfortunately I Had To Go With My Gut On That Decision, And To Let Her Go After 24 Hrs Was The Best Thing , Because For Her It Seemed So Tramatic , I Could Have Been Selfish And Keep Her Longer To Try For My Own Needs But I Knew It Was Wrong So 24 Hrs Was Enough To Know , Sometimes You Just Know , Either Way I Found The Perfect Dog For My Older Dog She Is 2 Yrs Old Rescued From The Spca Again As Was My Mimi 10 Yrs Ago . A Larger Breed Of Coarse , And Oh So Much Hair , Collie And Husky Mix , Active Still , Needs To Be Trained Definately But Its OK , ITS Only Been A Couple Of Days And She Loves My Mimi , Always Wants To Play , VERY AFFECTIONATE ANG GENTLE ,And Lets Mimi Be The Sweet Submissive Boss , They Play And Seem Quite At Ease With Each Other ,which Is Perfect , I Know She S Happy And Thats All I Wanted ...was Her Happiness. I Know Now I Really Made The Right Move, And For Someone Else Sassy Will Be The Right One Too , Im Sure. Thanks For Listening. Mimiloup Xxx

No, not yet. She's still living with her foster family who's socializing her everyday with other dogs, cats and people at their grooming salon.

Hi, Poodletalk and everyone else!
Sassy is coming along very well since when I first started fostering her. I am now able to walk her without a leash and she follows me! She is a bit lazy, though, and won't walk very far, usually she goes right to the car and tries to get in. She is still very timid with strangers as she was lost and in the woods and fields for several months before she was trapped in a cage, so I guess this is normal, especially for a sheltie as they do seem to be a timid breed. I am just hoping that someone adopts her soon before she gets to used to living here.

My dream home for Sassy would be a retired couple with no kids at home (I have two kids myself and while Sasssy would NEVER bite them, she doesn't seem to like the noise they make!) She would definitely be a ideal pet for the right someone!

I am sure that with time and patience, Sassy will find the right home.

Just wanted to let you know that she is up on my site, 2 people have inquired about her already, but no official applications yet. Her time will come, I know it, as all dogs eventually find a home. I just placed a pitbull, who's been with me now for 6 months in foster care. She came at the age of 4 months, she is now 10 months and was adopted last week. I rejected a lot of applications for her, but in the end, there was a good family....

So don't despair, I'm working on it for Sassy! Soon as I have a decent application for her, I will let everyone know.

Thank you,I love Shelties and I have yet to meet one that is not good as gold.
Maybe Sassy has had a hard life, hence the problems, but I know she's in good hands and will one day find a wonderful owner

Aww poor thing. I would take her in, but I don't have enough room in my house for a bigger dog. We're tearing down walls to enlarge the place. I have my for the poor girl. She really is beautiful. Good luck

What has happenned to Sassie?

Her story has touched our family, which includes a ten year old daughter. We are looking for a second dog to share our 'beauty in the bush' lifestyle. 100 acres of forest with trails around wetlands. We have five cats and a dog named Tasha. She is a Rough Collie Rescue, 10-12 years old. We adore her.(She came over to complain I wasn't talking to her just now). We lost our Corgi, Hoppy last fall (10 years old, also a rescue). We miss him so.

We have room for one more dog. We live simple, but full lives.

Sassy looks like a mixture of Tasha and Hoppy.

Is he still needing a forever home?

Sassy inquiry addendum…

What I meant by Sassie reminding me of my dogs, is that when I read "She is a bit lazy, though, and won't walk very far, usually she goes right to the car and tries to get in". That was Hoppy. Grossly overweight, having been fed a steady diet of Peak Freen cookies.

Also, about children; My daughter is very good with animals. This is an 'animals are our friends home'. We respect our friends.

Thanks.

Hi, Amaya,
After fostering Sassy since March and having no luck finding her a forever home, my family and I have decided to keep her forever! She has been through alot, and has adjusted wonderfully with us. I feel that to uproot her from here would be unfair to her. I really did want to adopt her out as I have three other dogs but we did all fall in love with her so she is staying with us.

Thank you so much for inquiring about her. I was just thinking about posting on this thread about my decision to keep her and then I saw your post come up!

There is a Sheltie rescue organization in Southern Ontario that may have some dogs that need homes. Just google in "Sheltie rescue" and you should come up with the link. Again, Amaya, thank you for asking about Sassy.

Lonely & Searching

I am looking for a small to medium sized dog. I have a fifteen year old cat who is used to dogs but the dog would have to learn to not bother her.

I have had several dogs over the years and I am currently looking for a new best friend. I live alone & work so the dog would not have a constant companion other than the cat.

I live in Cornwall, Ont

Please let me know if this dog is still available
