Unhappy Good bye Teddy

We rescued Teddy a 14 yr. old border collie. approximately 6 weeks ago. He passed away sometime last night. We tried everything to save him, but he just wouldn't eat. He started eating weiners but then threw them back up. The vets said they could not find anything wrong and gave him medication to increase his appetite but it didn't work.
I'm sorry Teddy , I wish we knew why you wouldn't eat. At least now you are in a place without suffering. You will always be in our hearts.

Cathy I'm so sorry to hear that Teddy has passed. I was hoping that he would come around and be ok, but I guess for some reason he had given up. Maybe its the loss of his family, my last dog was funny that way if we were away he would not eat, I left him only once for a week and he lost over 7 lbs and that was staying in my home with a close friend. Some dogs are just so family orientated that they would rather die than be without them, too bad we can't say the same. You tried your hardest and did everything you could, at least he will suffer no more, be at peace dear Teddy and have fun at the Rainbow Bridge with maybe with my dog Travis.

I am so sorry for your loss. Thankyou so much for giving this sweet senior a warm and loving place to spend his last days, not many people would adopt an older dog, that you did speaks volumes about you. I am glad Teddy was with people that loved him when he went to the bridge

Thank you for the kind words. I am hoping that my other dog Duke is going to be okay. He does alot of pacing when at home. I took him for a walk and stopped at the dog park to play and he was fine, but when we got back home he started pacing back and forth through the house.. I will probably give it some time then rescue another friend for Duke.

Dogspeed Teddy, our Bridge candle will be lit for you tonight.

I think www.brockstreetanimalhospital.com is the local vet who has links regarding pet grief on their website. There may be some tips there to help Duke (and you) through this difficult time.

for your loss, but glad that Teddy's last 6 weeks were in your loving care.

Oh how very sad! But thank you for taking this guy in, and giving him such loving care after his own family abandoned him.

I'm so SO sorry!

R.I.P. sweet Teddy - someone loved you!

What a heartbreak. It was wonderful of you to rescue him and give him love for his last days. It's always painful to see the older ones without a home and I truly believe that it's a very special person that opens their hearts to one.

Run free at the Bridge, sweet Teddy.

I'm so sorry about Teddy. Thank you for rescuing such an older dog. Nobody really does this anymore. Take care.
