Red face LOOKING for a cockatiel RESCUE

Hi there I am looking for a cockatiel rescue, Sanctuary or somewhere that will take a cockatiel that I took in that can not sit on a perch. Please if you know of a place that can help me please respond. she needs to be taken in to the hands of a person that can help her or him. She is a beautiful bird and deserves that right to live. thanks

can you tell why she can't sit on a perch?? is she deformed or is there damage to her legs? sometimes if you call the spca they will know of breeders that may be able to help her.

You could try getting in touch with this breeder of Parrots etc. They might be able to steer you in the right direction....Sandford is not far from you.

The OSPCA in Newmarket will take in surrendered birds, they are normally only there for a few days before they are adopted, but it sounds like your bird needs to see a Vet.

I, like Melinda am curious as to why your Cockatiel cannot sit on a perch

well she was give to me by a breeder...he told me that she laid to many eggs......but honestly, I don't even think that she is a she..I think that she could be a male...so that's the end to that reason..but it she is a she, then mabe...but any way....she dose need to see a vet mabe...she walks on her i guess you could call her wrists. I pandage them up so that she dosn't get sores. from what I have been told there is "ball training" you strap a ball ( marble size) to her feet, woth the ball under the feet and then this will train her feet to grab. But I haven't the device. from what I ave been told there are these devices around and mainly rescues and Sanctuary have them and are familiar with this. I am trying to find a place to take her....I am giving her up to save her life.
I will try Milkwood Aviaries and see if they may help...thanks

There is a good Vet for birds in Newmarket, which isn't far from Mt. Albert.

College Manor Veterinary Hospital, 869 Mulock Drive, Newmarket.
