Introducing Breedie

As many of you know we lost our beautiful Greta 7 week ago.

We have been approached by a Breeder who was getting rid of a 6 year old female who she was not going to breed anymore as she had new stock from Germany

We went to see her and fell in love. She is nothing like Greta which is good. This poor girl has never been off her property Hubby took her for a walk and she was so scared. She will need a lot of confidence building. But we are up for that.

In our last email with the Breeder she said that she would bathe her in the morning and that she was looking forward to going to her new home. I wanted to reply. No she isn't she would rather stay there you are ....ing
looking forward to getting rid of her. But I am being polite until we have her. We pick her up tomorrow.

Congrats Sylvie!! I am so happy for you!! And for Breedie!! Are you changing that name? Breedie just sounds like she was used as a machine....... (I apologize if you named her that. )

Sylvie she is beautiful and keep those comments that we all agree with to yourself, or at least till she is home with you. She will realize quickly that she really lucked out moving in with people who are going to love her and make her part of the family. Good luck and we will need some pics of this beauty

I have to agree that she is going to be the happiest dog on the planet when she realizes what a good thing is happening to her. I was thinking exactly what 14+ said about the name though. I could easily be changed to Brandy or something much more appropriate and loving but same sort of sound so it wouldn't confuse her. She's beautiful and we will be awaiting many more pics. Thank you for falling in love with her!

I know what you are saying about the name but Hubby picked it out. It is growing on me. Can't wait till tomorrow.

She only had one pup andit stuck in the birthing canal and did not make it. Apparentley never bred her again (as per the breeder). She has just been in the kennel all that time, allowed out to run with the others. She is really a sweetheart and I think starved for affection.

Hope my old guys don't mind another dog moving in.

Hubby shocked me the other night by saying I sure miss not having 4 dogs

For a minute I thought you and I wouldn't be on the same wavelength, Sylvie. I've always hated people who would dispose of dogs once they'd stopped showing or breeding with them, but then I read what you'd like to have told this person. LOL. It used to make me furious but nowadays I tend to think that if they can do that then they never deserved to own the dog in the first place and it's much better off somewhere else. She is a gorgeous girl, one to cherish and be proud of - good luck with her.

I guess if hubby picked it out it's ok. It really isn't a bad name. Just with her past history....
I am so glad this "breeder" was smart enough not to try breeding her again. Did she at least have her fixed?
Thank you so much for rescuing yet another one. You are an for the tireless work you do for all of these dogs you have had rehomed.
So if hubby misses having 4 does that mean possible another one down the road?

Off topic - If a certain tenant keeps up with his actions at the moment I know two beautiful GSs that will need new homes.

I find it very hard to believe that a breeder would have kept her if she had not been being bred for the past 6 years. I would take what this breeder is telling you with a grain of salt. On the plus side, she's now going to have a wonderful home with lots of love. It's going to be baby steps with this one if she's been kenneled all her life, but what a lot of fun it's going to be watching her come out of her shell.

Sorry, there are no pictures yet. She is so afraid, don't want to upset her any more than we do every minute we are here

Yesterday, she actually wagged her tail when I was bringing her her food. The breeder actually gave me some of her food (raw) So I am mixing it with kibble and she is eating all of it. That is a good thing, but no poops or pees, she has had one pee since Saturday.

We get one baby step forward and four backwords. But I will take the baby steps.

I agree with you CLM, don't know what to believe, one puppy or more.

No she is not fixed, but as soon as she is a little comfortable with us, she will be at the vets pronto. I have never owned an animal that I did not get fixed. The breeder did however make sure she was up to date on her shots. She will not give us the papers until she is fixed. Not a big deal about the papers, we will not be showing her or trialing with her. Just want her to be happy.

14+ there is definately more rescues in the future. Right now we have the 2 seniors. They need quite a lot of our time right now and of course Miss Bree who needs a lot of work and patience.

Looking forward to having Winston next week. He is so in love with hubby. Hmm perhaps Winston should think twice about letting us look after him, we might move and leave no forwarding address.

I don't think you should mix raw meat with kibble. From what I've read about this, raw meat and kibble digest at different speeds and mixing might create problems for your dog's digestive system.
At the most, fed raw at one meal and kibble at the other.

Only one pee since Saturday?? Does not sound right...perhaps a vet visit might be needed. Is she drinking??
