Cat Food
*disclaimer: I know the opinions of forum are that raw or wet is best and dry should be avoided - I have been reading up on what kitty diets are best but FOR NOW... *
...could I get opinions on the following feeds? Solid Gold Acana Orijen Go! Eagle Pack Nature's Variety Thanks! |

All of those are good quality for dry foods, I would also add Wellness to the list of choices, until as you've already noted a switch to wet can be made.
Does the cat/cats have any medical conditions that would needed a switch to high quality wet sooner?

I fed Go! for a while but realized I was accidentally feeding the regular thinking it was grain-free. My cat got kind of fat on it because of all the carbs. Good quality but carb-heavy food.
I find Orijen is pricey and Acana is just as good in quality. The Acana met Rupert's approval. Though good, I also think the Solid Gold is overpriced. The best overall that I have found in dry is Horizon Legacy. It's Canadian and grain free, and Rupert lost the extra weight from when I had him on Go! and developed good muscle tone. He also LOVES the taste! I supplement with whatever wet I can get him to eat, but he's not big on canned so it's hard. Have had the most success with Nature's Variety Instinct canned food, as far as having a picky eater goes.

Orijen tops my list of quality dry. I use that for treats and to sprinkle on Jasper's wet food when he starts to loose some weight.
I feed half homemade raw and half NV Instinct canned. BTW: the difference between "quality" kibble and quality canned and raw is HUGE and I can honestly say I have seen the difference over and over with my cats and fosters. I would never in good conscience feed my cats a kibble diet ever again.
