Mindy has a ear infection I think
Mindy's ear has an odor and it is quite red and a bit swollen inside according to my son. I had used some ear cleaner stuff I got from Walmart but I don't know if it does any good.
Can u tell me what others use for an ear infection or to clean a dog's ear? If I had an idea I could just call my vet and ask her to make me up some for Mindy on Monday. I've used stuff on our labs' ears before but that was a few years ago, and I can't remember the name of it. Thanks Debbie

It depends on whether it's a yeast (fungus) infection or a bacterial infection, TQ. Probably your vet will want to see her to determine exactly what's going on and then prescribe something appropriate (anti bacterials won't work on fungus and anti fungals won't work on bacteria, unfortunately). Not sure what's available for you, though--meds in Canada are named differently than here and I can never remember what's what

TQ , just like for flea treatments , I tried those products they sell in pet stores and they just don't work. For ear cleaners I use "Vet Solutions" that I buy at my vet. It's very affordable and works great. You could try that for 10 days . Of course , if after a few days you don't see any improvement , then a vet visit would be best.

The most common ear infection medication is Surolan. It has antibacterial, andtifungal and anti-inflamatory properties. Good luck!

Like Frenchy I use Vet Soultions as well. I know you can get one with aolchol and one with not. My cat used to have an ear infection way back. I bought this ear cleaning solution for her, so I can clean her ears reguarly. I bought the one with non aolchol. It does not bother my cat.
I would take your dog to a vet. hope he feels better soon. ACO22 |

Thanks everyone! Frenchy I will call my vet and see if they have some of that Vet Solutions as Tegan needs a good ear cleaner too. Gary used the stuff from Walmart on her, but she got an infection anyways.
Hazel I will call the vet on Monday, but I think the kind that Tulip mentioned is the type our labs always used...Surolan. So I will also ask about that one. ACO22 I will ask the vet about the vet solution and see if the non alcohol works as well as the alcoholic type...cause I would be worried the alcholic kind would sting is the ear was really bad. But that gives me names of stuff that I can ask for. Thanks! Debbie
