Word of caution using Pyrethrin or permethrin based products around ponds with fish
I know the mosquitos are a little worse this year because of all the snow melt and the wet spring. There are also anti bark collars now that are pyrethrin or permethrin based sprays as well as new mosquito repellent sprays and foggers using these products. These products are highly toxic to fish as well as being toxic to good bugs in the yard as well as the bad. A high humidity day, or rain while these products are in use could kill your fish. Apparently even minute amounts will be enough to kill the fish, so please use these products with extreme caution.

good heads up!!
as a general rule anythign from lotion on your hands to deodorant is bad for fish too. at best those things are a skin irritant to them. at worse it will damage their immune system (especially built up over time) enough for them to get sick and die. -ashley
