Have a cat and a Kitten need help with training aids
I have a 1yr old cat and a 17 week old kitten. We feed the cat a indoor formula and the kitten a kitten formula. my problem is that the wiskers (cat) wants to eat the kittens (freckles) food and freckles wants to eat wiskers. wiskers isn't eating anything but the kitten formula but the kitten is eating both.
I have heard that if you put water and lemon juice together and spray it in the cats mouth when they are doing somthing bad that they will stop doing it. Is that true and does lemon juice hurt the cat. |

Cats always want what they don't have! They can both eat the same food, adult food.
Do not squirt anything in their mouths. In order to do that you would have to pry their mouths open and squirt, and this will make them fear you. What are they doing that you do not want them to do? |

Feeding seperately (ie in different rooms) at timed intervals is your best bet, however if this is not feasible, then stick both on the kitten food, the biggest problem for the 1 yr old cat is that it may gain a bit too much weight, but it is better than the kitten not getting enough. The additional protien will just be converted to carbs. At a year old it won't be a disaster as the older cat should still have enough "kitten" in him/her to burn it off. An older cat's kidneys would have a harder time processing all the protein waste, which is why you should watch more mature animals around kitten/puppy food.
Good luck! Michelle |

I just bought a bag of "Paul Newmans own cat food",it says it's all organic,no corn, supposed to be good stuff. On the bag it says cat and kitten-food so it would be ideal for you.
However you will not find it in a grocery-store,only pet-food places.

I had that same problem when I first got Tux. Spunky was 6 and he was 3 months old. I just gave up trying to feed them separately and at different times, it was just too frustrating. I ended up mixing the adult food and kitten food together and feeding them both that for a few months (till kitty food ran out). Then Tux got adult food just like Spunky, and he is totally healthy and happy!!!
