Thanks for this article. I LOVE happy endings. Just shows how important it is to chip your pet..another good thing is to have a tattoo in the pet's ear.

Microchipping is so important but I wish that vets would adopt the practice
of running the scanner when they get a new "patient". That way if
the pet is lost or stolen it would get detected but there is nothing in
place for this to be mandatory.

The only way to do this would be for the chip makers to insist that it be
done for the vets to be able to purchase the chips which is a big part of their business.

Sable is chipped as well as a tattoo in his ear but unless someone catches
him they are of little value.

the microchip was never checked?

that makes perfect sense...found and stray animals are checked for microchips here. was the cat ever taken to a vet? I would wonder if I picked up a stray whether or not the critter had parents already...
