Menu Foods Expands Recall - Again

BREAKING NEWS: Menu Foods Expands Recall — Again
April 10th, 2007

Menu Foods transfered some of the tainted wheat gluten to their
Canadian facility and has issued yet another recall.

Menu Foods has identified a single interplant transfer of the
ChemNutra supplied wheat gluten, shipped from Menu Foods’ plant in Emporia,
Kansas, to its plant in Streetsville, Ontario. This wheat gluten was
subsequently used in the production of pet food in December, 2006 and
January, 2007, which is being recalled by Menu Foods.

This may explain the melamine found in Nutro’s cans in California.
Thank goodness for pet parents who care. You were right to suspect all Menu
Foods products.

The revised recall includes cat food brands from Nutro, Publix,
America’s Choice, Pet Pride, Winn Dixie and more.

Exclamation Terrible!

This is all terrible...

So once again, my Luna's foods (yup, Nutro wet cans) are listed. I knew, i just KNEW it wasn't only the pouches!
Thank the Gods I had her blood work done and urinalysis testing done two weeks ago and that she's fine...

Here are a couple of helpful links I found regarding this... seems a few other sites are really on top of this (with their own disclaimers about doing your own research, but they're up-to-date with recall summaries)... and in case this helps anyone here they are (borrowed from petconnection.com):

The Pet Food List, run by the folks at PetsitUSA, is tracking the brands NOT under recall. http://www.thepetfoodlist.com/

The Pet Food Tracker is listing those that HAVE been recalled. This is important to check, because the official FDA site has been slow to report. http://petfoodtracker.blogspot.com/

Hugs and good vibes to any pet and pet parent affected...~Scary

Maybe this has already been asked and answered. If so, please be patient with me.

Why is it necessary for anybody in North America to buy foreign wheat? By the time you add shipping costs, it can't be less expensive. Don't we have surpluses of wheat and wheat by products of our own?

And if it was cheaper, how come? Did they know something?

Grrrrr...!
