Mucus in eyes (cat not grooming)
My cat who is very ill but much improved from where she was has some mucus buildup in her eyes. I suspect if she were grooming that this would be taken care of but she's not right now.
Is there a safe way for me to remove it? I was thinking of a soft damp cloth or cottonball. It tends to be right inside the bottom lip of the eyelid. Or is this something that I should leave be? |

A cotton ball saturated with liquid silver (like 10ppm Sovereign Silver from the health food store) and just gently wiped on her eyelid might help. The silver is anti-bacterial, in case there is something funky going on with her eyes. It's also completely non-stinging and very gentle. Or you could just use warm water.

Thank you, SugarcatMom -- once again you've come through for me. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help.
My kitty tends to sleep with her eyes partly open, so I imagine this is not helping matters (she's done this all of her life). I'll look for the Liquid Silver. It sounds as if it will keep the mucus from drying on her lids, too. |

On a side note:
I have one that sometimes sleeps with her eyes open. It really Creeps me out . I have to go poke her to make sure she is still alive! |
