Some youtube videos
Here are twin moose playing in a sprinkler in Alaska.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNy9jTeolUk and here is a procupoine at Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Even though it is a cute video, it is more sad. This procupine was brought in, after living as someones pet. As you can see, he acts more like a domestic animal. Snickers will never be able to be released in the wild. All because of an individual(s) selfishness. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5I5H7EeC8k ACO22 |

My god the moose twins were hilarious!!.... ...as for the porcupine...it was interesting but what is the matter with people that they can't enjoy creatures in the wild??? Do they not know the harm they do taking them indoors?? Poor Stinkers, and thank for posting it

I believe it is an indiviual(s) selfishness. We humans are a greedy, selfishness, stuburness species. If it is not benefiting us in some way, we are not happy. Although it is frustating, we can't stop educating people and raising awareness about keeping wildlife as pets. Wild animals have natural instincts, that need to be nurtured, not surpressed.
Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center could never release him back into the wild. Wild animals are happiest in the well...wild. ACO22 |

Hi Chico, Our program focuses on North American wildlife, not so much lions, tigers, elephants etc. Although they are discussed. We also learn about fish. No, we don't work with wildlife until 2nd semester. This is one of the reasons why I love the north so much. The wildlife. One of my hobbies is taking pictures of tracks and trying to determine what they are. I am fortunate enough that bear, moose, wolve, coyote, etc...and yes even mountain lions tracks on a consistant basis.
I am sure he is well taken care of at the Center. Quote:

Happy to hear that they are fortunate to be able to go to a rehab center. It's so hard to see baby season starting early. Our Earth as a whole is in crisis and this is one of the signs.
Last Thursday it snowed a few cm here where I live. It was suppose to snow 10cm, but never did. I kept on thinking about all the babies, eggs, and the animals flying back from being down south. People thought I was strange lol, but when you've worked with wildlife, you respect and appriecate them and their surroundings more. A great book I would like to recommend is When Elephants Weep: The emotional lives of animals. The author is Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson ACO22 |
