Chicken Wing
So Connor managed to swallow a cooked chicken wing (one of those little drumstick pieces) whole... it slipped out of my fingers and he had it down his little gullet before I could grab it from him.
I guess I just wait and take him to the vet if I notice any problems with pooping, eating, mood, etc? Just looking for some advice/reassurance! I'm pretty sure he's swallowed one before... just not whole! Last edited by serenamlambe; May 31st, 2010 at 08:55 PM. |

One of ours had done the same before with no ill effects (leftover cooked bones now go into the trash bin outdoors where they don't have access to).
You sure Connor didn't chew it at all? I'd be checking all his poops carefully to see if it passes.

I'm pretty sure he didn't chew at all. I tried to grab it from his mouth and he just swallowed it. Eeek.
He ate some more food last night & pooped this morning... My boyfriend said it had some white in it, so I'm hoping this might be the bone digested. |

Update: He pooped aagin this afternoon. No sign of the bone, but the second "log" (hahahaha) of his poop was really dry and he had trouble getting it out. The first "log" was normal.
Any ideas? He seems to be acting normal. We took him for a walk and he was as happy about it as ever! |

The bone should digest or pass ok. I actually might be more worried about chewed bone since there are splinters that can cut the intestines.
Unless you start to see signs of issue (such as not pooping or differences in behavior) I wouldn't worry too much. |
