Cat sitting Help!!!
This is not an emergency question just a concern. I have a cat (Cry Baby) he has been fixed and had all of his shots, he has been de-wormed and all that. My friend asked my of I would watch her kitten until they got through with apartment inspections. I told her I would not unless he had all of his shots and was taken care of becuase I did not want my cat to catch anything. So i have had this kitten for three days. Anyway, I was talking to her and come find out her kitten was never de wormed. Now, I have never seen a worm on him and he acts fine (he is 12 weeks old) but if he does have a few will my cat get them since he was de wormed already (it was about 2 weeks ago). This kitten was from an outside cat. She called the vet and he is going in for his shot in four days but I am wondering should I take my cat in again?

Are both cats using the same litter box? Does the kitten have fleas? If the kitten has worms or fleas, your cat could certainly catch them.
If you are uneasy, you can take a stool sample to the vet after the kitten is gone to have it checked for worms. Tapeworms are the most common and are very easy to get rid of and mostly harmless - but gross! |

She is taken the cat to get it taken care of I was wondering if I should have my cat get another shot or not. The cat has no fleas and I can not tell that he has worms. Should I still contact the vet. I did not know if the shot took care of it like it stayed in my cats system or not? They are not using the same liter box and for the most part they are not eatting after each other. I give them seprate food bowls, but they snick in and get each others food. He will only be there until the 12th of this month.

I dont' know what kind of shot you mean, as shots are not given for tapeworms.
If your cat has tapeworm, you'll know it soon enough. You can see them clinging to the fur around the cat's butt, or in the cat's bed, where they look like grains of rice. |
