Stray kitty help

Hey Guys,

I had to take Diamond out at 3:30am sat morning.. & when I opened the door a large black kitty came running in. Diamond followed it to the food.

& it hissed & spat etc etc. This Cat has been hanging around for a whiile now.

Does NOT get along with Sid or Dusty. He (he hasnt been neutered)

Comes in at every chance he gets & unfortunately I cant keep him. (Sid & him had a bad fight in Aug & Sid hurt his leg.

I think he is a dump & run:sad:.

If you go near him you will end up scratched or bitten.

& he looks alot like The Cat "Blackie" we kinda have Could be his Daddy?

Need some advice on what to do with Winter coming Id hate to see him outside in the cold.

If you can't keep him, and you can find a no-kill rescue in your area that is willing to take him, maybe you can live trap him? My neighbour rents a live trap from the humane society when we have strays dumped, and catches them in it so they can be fixed. If you need a temporary shelter for him outside (and are willing to put up with him hannging around in your yard) getting one of those cheap styrofoam containers, cutting a hole in the side, and turning it upside down makes a temporary, warm shelter. He might take time to decide something new is safe, or, being a cat, not use it at all.

Ill havta try the homemade shelter, As we have 2 (somewhat 3) strays 'Blackie" is allowed inside. & I had him neutered.

This one + a another 1 whom I cant get close to at all very feral.

I might try the live trap but I am sure I will catch my kittys or other wildlife

I just feel so bad he was starving when he came in & on his way out grabbed a mouthful of Diamonds kibble that had spilled on floor.

Any winter shelter is better than no shelter at all. I would put the home made shelter(s) in an area that is also blocked from the wind and not likely to have snow pile up near it. Or in it!
This is the site I like. It shows how to make the shelters with styrofoam. You can still use straw for the walls in between the sides of the bin and the styrofoam.

The heat reflecting blankets are the big thing around here. You can get them at the Dollar store for, you guessed it, a buck!

I am planning on making some for the garage for the ferals who sleep in there during the winter.

ohhhhh Perfect I have many survival blankets & Styrofoam left over from a fish hut that is now dismantled. that is what they used to insulate it.

I also have a perfect spot that is sheltered for them & out of Sid/dusty & Diamonds prying eyes.

tx guys
