Cinnamon Girl is staying

Signed the papers last night, so it's official. Like there was ever any doubt . What clinched it for me was a voice mail last week from MEOW saying that a potential adopter wanted to check her out. My heart sank (I may have even shed some tears). I had promised DH that I'd give it some time, see if maybe the perfect home for her came along. But WE'RE the perfect home! He still isn't totally keen on the idea, although he does love her. Just thinks there's too much cat-energy in the house with 4, and the fact that she's still quite feral in many ways complicates matters (like getting her booster shot - I'm paying for a mobile vet to come and do it, rather than go through the stress of taking her to the shelter - even though it would be free if I did).

Anyway, she loves it here. Gets to play with Peppercorn and Carrot Cake all day (and boy can she play!!!). Eats a fabulous variety of tasty foods (raw chicken necks are a particular favourite - for the kittens too! crunchy cat candy). Watches squirrels and birds from several excellent vantage points. And gets to sleep in comfy chairs or fluffy cat beds, whatever strikes her fancy. Can't get much better than that.

She's getting along with Aztec so much better now that she isn't in heat. She respects his space, which is all he ever wanted. Aztec is still pretty ticked off about the kittens though, mostly because they have very little respect (typical teenagers). They think it's great fun to sneak up on the poor guy from behind, pounce on his tail, and try to escape without getting bopped. The most amazing thing is that CG will head the kittens off if she sees them running up to Aztec. She's clearly trying to teach them, they just don't always listen. So because of that, Aztec gets the upstairs to himself most of the time and we only let them all together under supervision. Not because we think anyone will get hurt, we just don't want Aztec feeling too stressed.

Here are a few recent pics.

So pretty

K so, where's the surprise in that? We knew very shortly after she came into your life that she wasn't going anywhere. And this is from the queen of falling in love with those tiny 4 footed things.
Congrats for CG and you and hubby. He'll come around.
Wonderful pics btw!!

Awwwww, SCM this has me crying , of course there was not a more perfect home than yours

Yes, there are some very unique challenges with having a feral. Are you able to pick her up? I just dread the day we are going to have an emergency with Rose , or that she accidentally gets outside.

Those pics are just precious . You are CG's , without you, who knows what would have become of her and her kittens.

Can't pick her up yet, although we've been doing some very gentle routines to get her used to being "man-handled". We can pick her front legs off the ground for many seconds at a time and she doesn't mind it so much. When her back legs leave the ground, she violently kicks out behind her (the "eviscerator move", as I call it). One great thing about her is that you can pet her all over - her ears, toes, tummy, etc - and she loves it. Most of all, she loves chest rubs. Sinks to the ground and goes into a trance when you start scratching her there. So cute .

I cringe at the thought! In fact, MEOW was recently trying to trap another momma and her kittens just up the street from me, and they were only able to catch 2 of the kittens. 2 others and the mom have disappeared. The kittens were about a month younger than mine. Tragic.

That little spitfire (named her Bijoux) was adopted by some very good friends of mine, along with the fuzzy Buzz Fuzzler. They are doing fantastic! Spoiled silly. DH and I took our 2 kittens over to their house a couple weeks ago for a play date, and everyone had a blast running around like, well, kittens! Next play date is at our house. I'll see if I can get some updated pics of them.
