Kidney Failure
Hi guys, i have some bad news... Bully is not doing good. On Sunday, i had to rush to the emergency vet. Bully was puking and had trouble just standing up.
The vets think it might be kidney failure... I currently cant afford any test to be 100% sure They wanted to keep him for 2 days and ruin some tests... 1500$!!! Im really sad that i cant afford it... Ive taken Bully bad home and kept giving him alot of water so he doesnt dehidrate. He's been sleeping about 20 hours a day since Sunday, it is now Wednesday. He seems to have ups and downs... He doesnt seem to be suffering, just has no energy. I REALLY hope that whatever he has is not as bad as they think! I just cant imagine being without him... Hes 19 months old now. Ill keep you guys updated. Right now im thinking of 2 solutions if it gets worste. 1: Put him up for adoption with a family that can afford whatever needs to be done. 2: Might have to put him down if he suffers too much

I am so sorry but please check out this link it may be the help you need. I would gladly help but I am not working and am tapped out. This may help Bully and give him a big hug and kiss from me and Clark. Also you may be able to find a vet that will work out a payment schedule. You could also get pedalytes (sp) they are in the baby needs or ask the pharmacist they will keep him hydrated. Good luck hoping for good news

Bastien, I hope things work out for you and Bully. Have you searched on line to see if there's anything you can do at home other than keeping him hydrated? Have you applied for a credit card that you could maybe use to get him treatment? I'm sure others will be along to give you some ideas on how to help Bully stay comfortable, sorry I have nothing to offer advice wise. You are both in my thoughts and prayers.

So so sad It is awful when they are not well and we don't know why. I really hope he can bounce back. Sounds like you are doing your best to keep him comfy.
LONG SHOT: have you checked ALL THE RECALLS lately? They change everyday...it maybe could be the food or treats you are feeding??? 19 months just seems way too young for kidney failure Good luck!

I'm so sorry bastien. I hope and pray that Bully can recover. Is it possible that he got into something? There are many, many household items that can cause kidney failure. And as previously mentioned, there are several dog food recalls right now (several of the foods that are manufactured by Diamond which includes Kirkland (Costco), Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul, Taste of the Wild etc). This is a link to the most current, expanded recall showing both US and now Canada:

Im am so sorry this is happening to you! I sure hope the diagnosis is wrong, your boy is far too young. I agree check on recalls and most importantly anything he may have gotten into! Can you get a credit card or find a family meber that ight help? There also used to be a place called Care Credit or soemthing along those lines.
Thinking of you guys! Cindy

Bastien as Winston mentioned there is a company called Pet Card please have a look at the website, they offer two options either a loan or an emergency use credit care for vet care.
A full panel blood and urine tests is a good place to start and would help the vets to understand what treatments are needed right away. These two tests together should cost around $250 or less. Ask to speak to the office manager of your regular vet, they should be able to work out a payment plan option for a regular client that has a pet in need.

Ok guys, thanks for all the suport! One of my friend that LOVES Bully gave me a call yesterday afternoon.... He payed for the blood test I went straight to the vet, got the test done and it came back negative for kidney failure...
So now we dont really know what's wrong with him, but he seems to be 100xbetter this morning. Im hoping it was just some sort of disease or something. I'll wait a day or 2 and if no other signs of sickness appear, ill be a happy happy guy!!!

Oh, man, how scary for you, Bastien!
Just a thought--we've had similar reactions here to mushrooms. Not all of them that spring up in the yard are 'bad', but our Ridge always manages to find the funky ones. The only treatment is supportive IV-fluids to flush the kidneys. And, of course, she always manages to find them at night or on holidays so it involves an emergency trip to the vet afterhours... *sigh* Any chance Bully could have found a bad mushroom? I know they're popping up all over our yard now after our wet week. We're sorta crossing our fingers and sweating it out till things dry out...

So happy you were able to get the blood tests. What a supportive friend
I hope you have checked your food and treats against the daily changing recall lists. Keep reading too...some products have "allegedly" made dogs sick but not recalled yet. Good luck!

Bastien, I was coming here to ask how Bully was today, but I see he's doing much better. Yay!!! I hope and pray that he continues to improve. What a great friend you have there. In the meanwhile I'd either look into getting a credit card just for your doggy emergencies (because there will be more...) or start putting $50 a month into a doggy medical fund and don't touch it but for vet costs. It always happens when we can least afford it. What great news this was though. Made my day.

Bastien,I am soooo happy Bully is doing ok and that you had a wonderful friend who could help you out.
It's always a good idea to try to put some money away, for Bully,so you don't ever have to make sad choices because of lack of money. You and Bully clearly belong together
