Newly adopted dog ran away - Marieville, Quebec

A family came to our shelter (SPCA Monteregie) and adopted Toby, a nice and timid mixed lab. They brought him home and played with him for a bit in the yard. When his new owner turned his head for a second, he found a hole under the fence and escaped! We are besides ourselves worrying about him; he is such a nice dog but shy. Please all keep a look out for Toby and if you see him, please call the SPCA at 450-460-3075 or 514-386-5960.

Contact SCDD. As you know you have to check every 3 days or it's game over. Good luck - this is a sad turn of events.

We of course contacted the SCDD and went over there tonight. They only had about 20 dogs there and they serve about 25 municipalities! The guy there said they have a 95% adoption rate.....hmm, I don't know about that.
Oh, they had the most beautiful rottie there, and also 4 Gordon Setters from a breeder!

And Toby is still no where to be found.

Just wanted to share some good news with everyone: Toby has been found! After being on the run for almost two weeks, and countless hours of volunteers searching for him day and night, we got him! Toby was sighted many times, but no one could approach him as he was very timid. Finally, a girl who works at the shelter saw him and started to talk to him, and he let her catch him! He was so happy to be back at the shelter as his tail was wagging and wagging!
Thanks to everyone who gave words of encouragement!

Hi Frenchy,

Yes, there were 8 Gordon Setters - a breeder gave up her dogs to them, can you believe that?? Anyway, a setter rescue has been contacted and they know of the breeder that did this and they were supposed to have taken them out of there...
